Meet Snowy

Our Story

We rescued our cat Snowy at 2007 when he was assessed as 5 year old. He must have been at RSPCA for a long while because he had only one day left for someone to adopt before being put down.

He stood out for us because he was the most chilled cat there. A bundle of long white fur lay relaxed and unaffected while the other cats were jumping, hissing and scratching all around.

Snowy did not like it when we took him home. He hid behind furniture and under beds for about a week until one day, when one of the doors was left open, he escaped and disappeared. We were so distraught, and we looked for him everywhere, but he was gone.

About a month later, when we lost all hope of seeing him again, he suddenly returned to our house. He looked so miserable. He lost a lot of weight, and his fur was dirty and a mess. We were amazed to see him back after such a long time and so very happy.

We gave him space and time to adjust again. He was a different cat when he returned. He was calm and trusting. He never hissed, scratched or exposed his claws with resentment or anger.

From that time till today, our family had moved houses three times, the world is constantly going through changes and tribulations, yet Snowy wakes up every day and lives unaffected by it all. Observing him taught us a lot about ourselves.

He fits into the environment on his terms. Loving our attention then calmly walking away when he had enough, he didn’t lose his cool and calm self. His confident and independent always there with calmness love and kindness.

He always stays true to himself, happy and relaxed.

Who among you walking upon this earth is feeling genuinely free? I am raising my hand up and saying I. What does freedom mean to me?
